The House of Music in Pieve di Cento (BO) is a project born with the desire to give space and facilities at two music schools in the municipality. The design is inspired by the musical tradition rooted in Pieve; hence the desire to recall, even from a material point of view, the theme of the soul of musical instruments, in particular referring to the wooden soundboard.
The aim is to create a covered square of more than 700 sqm which can housing inside the small musical classrooms for mono-instrument; a circular place to facilitate the radial arrangement of the students, communicating with a buffer zone with bioclimatic function and which serves at the same time as distribution space and breaking / wifi.
Thus the House of Music has the objective of providing an accessible space at any time of the day, that can be also a meeting and a gathering place for the community, not only in the music field. The value of the project is to give new space to realities that did not possess it and merge them together in a synergistic way, placing itself as a social catalyst of a reality already dynamic. Internally enlightened during the night, the House of Music appears to the people as a constant point of call, a lantern of comfort to encourage the resumption of musical and recreational activities after the earthquake disadvantage.
